Luxurious Chalets on the Turracher Höhe

The two new Turrach Lodges serve as a luxurious hideaway on the Turracher Höhe. Bathed in natural lighting, the Alps-Residence Chalets lie at 1700 m above sea level, in the Nockberge region on the border between Carinthia and Styria and approximately 4 kilometres from the centre and "Kornock-Bahn" valley station. From here, you are perfectly placed to explore the extraordinary countryside of the “Turrach”: Whether on skis (alpine, cross-country, touring) or snowshoes in winter, or, in summer, along idyllic hiking paths, by bike or perhaps enjoying an exhilarating ride on the Alpine Coaster. The high lake plateau of the Turracher Höhe is characterized by pine forests, three mountain tarns and spacious alpine grazing areas.

Chalets with sauna

The Turrach Lodges each greet you with four bedrooms, three baths, a living/dining/cooking area bathed in natural light along with a private wellness area. On a tastefully furnished 147 m², up to ten people will be able to make themselves right at home. Enjoy the view of the mountains and pine forest from your spacious terrace or balcony. The crowning conclusion to a full vacation day spent in the fresh air: a healthy sweat in the wellness area with private spruce-wood sauna and a captivating panorama through the broad picture window, before making yourself comfortable in the living room in front of a cozy fireplace.

The chalets are fully equipped and furnished with loving attention to every detail. Two parking spaces are available per chalet, while there is plenty of room for all of your skiing and hiking gear in the practical ski storage room.

In the Turracher Höhe ski area with 42 km of pistes and 14 lifts, beginners, ambitious skiers and free skiers all find the perfect “playground”. Winter Holidays

Winter holidays on the Turracher Höhe

Located at 1800 m on the border between Styria and Carinthia, the Turacher Höhe is one of the snowiest regions in Austria and offers skiing enjoyment from November until the beginning of May. Winter dreams don’t only come true on the perfectly groomed 42 km of pistes. Away from those ski runs which descend through picturesque pine forests, too, a variety-filled winter paradise awaits discovery, with Alpenpark Turracher Höhe as your base. Both of the Turrach Lodges are located roughly 4 km from the reception of the "Alpenresidenz" and the Kornockbahn Valley station.

Fun on the pistes in the three-corners region

Turracher Höhe ski area (elev. 1400 - 2205 m) is a true insider tip amongst the numerous ski resorts in the three-corners region spanning Styria – Carinthia – Salzburg. 42 km of snowy pistes in combination with 14 modern gondolas and ski lifts are guaranteed to set the pulses of skiers and snowboarders racing in delectable anticipation. Highlights include the 1.5 km long “Snowpark Turracher Höhe” as well as the “XXL Funslope”, which is one of the longest of its kind worldwide. If you prefer a full tour, you should definitely give the 12 km long “Turracher Höhe Seenrunde” a try, treating you to an unbeatable overview of the lake and the surrounding countryside. Yet another unforgettable highlight: the so-called “Lake Taxi”, providing a connection right across the frozen-over Turracher See.

Cross-country skiing and ice-skating on the Styria-Carinthia border

In addition to 25 km of marked winter hiking paths, which run either through snowy pine forests or alongside three alpine tarns – Turracher See, Schwarzsee and Grünsee – the Turracher Höhe is also famous as a cross-country El Dorado. Skiers have four different trails to choose from (for classic as well as “skating” technique) totaling 16 km in length. On one loop of roughly 2 km, you even have the opportunity to put in a lap on the frozen waters of the Turracher See, while on the longest ski trail – over 7 km long – you will be able to discover the pristine Weitental valley. Furthermore, Turracher See itself, approximately 850 m² in area, also serves as an absolutely exquisite natural ice rink.

Highlights for your family holiday

Due to the compactness of the ski area and its wide slopes, the Turracher Höhe is outstandingly suited for a family ski holiday. Especially for the youngsters and right next to the practice lift, you will discover an enjoyable kids’ slope. In the meantime, older children will be able to partake in their own sporting entertainment at the “Funcross”. And if even that isn’t exhilarating enough for you, awaiting you on the Carinthian side of the ski area is the “Nocky Flitzer” Alpine Coaster, also open in winter, taking you on a thrilling 1.6 km long ride from the mountain terminal of the Panoramabahn all the way down to the valley.

VIP Service with Piste Butler

As guests of the Turrach Lodges, you will also be able to enjoy our free VIP service. Discover winter at its most beautiful in the company of our charming Piste Butler. Not only will he take care of your every need including hankies, sun lotion and the occasional glass of prosecco, as well as delicious Hill Farm Ice Cream beginning in March, he will also invite you to join him for an array of activities away from the pistes, such as a family snowshoe hike, a Early-Morning Trilogy and a fascinating look behind the scenes at the lift terminal.

unsere Ausflugsziele Tipps

Marias Lieblingsplätze

Maria Weilharter

Familien an.

Summer Holidays

Summer Holidays on the Turracher Höhe

The Turracher Höhe lies in the Nockberge on a high-alpine pass between the Austrian provinces of Styria and Carinthia at some 1800 m above sea level. The holiday region, which encompasses three picturesque mountain lakes (Turracher See, Schwarzsee and Grünsee), is famous as the home of the biggest uninterrupted area of pine forest, not only in Austria, but actually in all of Europe. The nearest biggish city – Villach, population just over 60,000 – is approximately 60 km or a one-hour drive away. Thanks to the unique natural setting and many different vacation opportunities, the Turracher Höhe is an ideal summer destination for getaways in the Austrian Alps. And the Turrach Lodges your luxurious hideaway so as to enjoy this natural jewel to the full.

Hiking holidays

The Turracher Höhe is a true hiking paradise that offers pleasant hikes as well as challenging mountain tours – for example, to the top of the 2441 m high Eisenhut. The Kornockbahn (ca. 4 km) carries you up to an elevation of roughly 2200 m, from where you will have no problems reaching the summit of the 2334 m high Rinsennock. You will also be able to set out from your wellness chalet to explore the peaceful pine forests nearby. One special highlight is a mountain walk along the idyllic 3 Lakes Path, which, depending on what you are in the mood for, will take you anywhere from 30 minutes up to two hours. This path is also highly recommended for families, not least because of the interactive stations along the way designed to hone your senses for all things alpine. If you are surefooted and have a head for heights, you might like to show off your skills on the newly built “Hoher Steg” via ferrata, a fixed-cable climb approximately 400 m long with a difficulty rating of A to C.

Mountain biking

This holiday region promises biking enjoyment for young and old. For example, the new “Turracher Höhe Trail Area” is designed especially with families in mind. Opportunities include the 5 km long, extraordinarily pristine “Kornock Flowtrail”, which drops over 350 vertical meters, accompanied by marvelous views of the Turracher See and winding all the way down to the valley. In addition, you will discover numerous practice areas as well as technique trails, where rookie bikers assisted by guides can prepare themselves perfectly for the flowtrail. E-bike fans also have many different clearly marked tours to choose from, leading along forestry paths and across alpine pastures.

Family holidays on the Turrach

With its wide selection of recreational activities, the Turracher Höhe provides an ideal setting for a successful family summer holiday in the mountains. The most exciting attractions lie close to the Panoramabahn. Right next to the mountain terminal at 2000 m above sea level is “Nocky’s AlmZeit”, a walking loop with seven exciting play stations. After a break for a bite to eat at the AlmZeit-Hütte, you will be primed for an exciting ride on the legendary 1.6 km long “Nocky Flitzer”, curving its way all the way back down to the Turracher Höhe. At “mythos Edelstein”, children up to age 14 are able to hunt for precious stones and even pan for gold nuggets.

Summer Butler Card with VIP Service

All guests of the Turrach Lodges receive the AlmButler Card for free and get to enjoy all of the great services associated with it. The AlmButler accompanies you on sunrise and family hikes followed by a lakeside picnic, takes E-bike tours with you, prepares a Summit Breakfast, organizes a variety-packed program for children and teens (ages 4 to 18) and much more. Add to that numerous other all-inclusives, including a daily free ride on the Panoramabahn, Kornockbahn or the “Nocky Flitzer” along with various discounts.
